In our drive to improve literacy across
the country, we partnered with Teach For
Nigeria to provide reading materials for
over 10,000 primary school pupils who
couldn’t afford them. We raised over
₦1,000,000 from donations and over 700
books from the book drive.
We partnered with GTBank to create The
Dusty Manuscript, a literary prize for
Nigerian writers that provides them with
the opportunity of getting their
unpublished stories published, as well
as a cash prize of ₦1,750,000. Two of
the winners have secured publishing
deals with Kachifo Ltd.
We partnered with Samsung Mobile Nigeria
to organize a short story contest for
students in over 100 Secondary schools
across the country. Winners of this
contest have been awarded with cash
prizes, internships and Samsung Mobile
devices to encourage digital reading.
We partnered with Union Bank Nigeria to
initiate The Campus Writing Challenge, a
writing contest for students of tertiary
institutions across Nigeria. 1,793
entries were received and the Top 25
entries were rewarded with over
₦1,000,000 and other consolation prizes.
We were selected as one of the 12
startups that participated in Google’s
first Launchpad Accelerator Africa
class, modelled after the global program
in Silicon Valley.
We teamed up with Lafarge to kick-start our digital literacy outreach at a low-cost primary school. Pupils in primary
3-6 learnt about digital reading and one phone was used to give a child access to over 10,000 children books!
